Framework & Approach

I believe the stories we tell ourselves are powerful, and I work with people who are ready to change their story.

Maybe you are burnt out. Maybe you feel tired of performing. Maybe you wonder who you are underneath the mask—underneath the pressure to be like others.

I work with clients as a registered associate of marriage and family therapy under licensed supervisors (Michael Anthony-Nalepa, LMFT #101240; Jennifer Campoy LCSW #23900) who struggle with depression, anxiety, daily impairment, and navigating neurodivergence with a specialty in autism. My approach is affirming: LGBTQ affirming, disability affirming, neurodivergent affirming, and BIPOC affirming. I aim to serve the needs of individuals across income classes and various local regions of California. In the space I share with clients, I invite them to come as they are.

Who is Rae Lacanlale?

Hi there! I’m Rae—a queer, neurodivergent, Filipino-American therapist in Los Angeles. Before I was a therapist, I was a product designer in the ed-tech space. Without trying, my app designs tended to incorporate mental well-being tools, which led to a career pivot in 2021. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and have been working with clients as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) since.

I am trained in providing decolonized, trauma-informed, and community-resiliency-modeled therapy. I value making an honest effort to be affirming and inclusive of all peoples.

In my time outside of therapy, I am an artist. My go-to mediums are acrylic paint, markers, ceramics, and words. My art focuses on themes similar to that of my therapeutic approach: the stories of the world, the difficulty many of us face in connecting, and the tragic-yet-beautiful challenge of living.

I am also freakishly skilled at guessing the breed mixes of every dog I encounter.
